The Sikh Relief team are blessed to follow in accordance with the words of Gurbani for the preservation of the environment “Air is the Guru, Water the Father, and the Earth is the Great Mother”. Previous weeks have seen the tree-planting project begin at Gurdwara Kiratpur Sahib and visiting the village Bargari in Faridkot. The team have now arrived at the village of the Miri Piri master Guru Hargobind Sahib, Mari Mustafa, where the team are blessed to have began planting trees and plants at this historical gutrdwara.
Jaswinder Singh a volunteer with Sikh Relief UK tells us meanwhile during 14 September to 18 September we visited local villages where sikh heritage camps were held, in which Gurminderpal Singh Lal joined the congregation with the holy scriptures. Through this connection with the congregation we encouraged them to look after the environment and together with their support planting began.
Sikh Relief UK in the previous years has looked after the Sikh political prisoners lodged in jail and their families and has now started its campaign of Sikh heritage events and the care of the environment taking this into many different villages.
Sikh Relief feels that it is necessary to educate the Panjab population in line with the perspective of Gurbani on how to preserve their environment , as this will have more of an impact on their minds and thoughts than any arguments that the environmental scientists can provide.
